New Forest District Council has produced a draft Air Quality Strategy as required by Government for Local Authorities with no declared Air Quality Management Areas.
Whilst the Council’s statutory duties remain under the Local Air Quality Management regime to review and assess local air quality against Government set air quality objectives (which we are achieving) and report to Defra annually, the Strategy is focused on improving local air quality further. The Strategy outlines how this will be achieved through partnership working to identify local issues with work delivered via agreed annual work plans.
The draft Strategy is currently out for public consultation until 5 May 2025 and we would welcome your feedback and views. The draft Air Quality Strategy and consultation can be found on the Councils website: Air quality strategy - New Forest District Council

The New Forest Awakening Festival is currently on, do look at their website for all the details.
The New Forest National Park Authority has published the first public consultation document as part of its review of the local planning policies covering the National Park area. The ‘Direction of Travel’ consultation document (and response form) is available on our website via the link below and hard copies are also available on request.
The consultation document summarises the process for preparing a revised Local Plan and the national planning policy context for National Parks. At this initial stage we are asking local communities, businesses, stakeholders and statutory consultees about the scope of the review of the Local Plan. The Direction of Travel consultation document sets out the key issues and areas on which the Local Plan Review will focus and sets out the policy areas which have not changed since the Plan was adopted in 2019.
